Virtual Doula Support

I believe every family deserves to feel informed, empowered, and supported throughout pregnancy and birth. Over the years, I’ve spoken to many expectant parents who would have loved the support of a doula but found the cost of full in-person care out of reach.

That’s why I created my Virtual Doula Support package. By offering my guidance and support remotely, I’m able to provide personalised birth preparation, ongoing reassurance, and professional support at a more accessible price. While I won’t be physically present at your birth, I’ll be there to help you prepare with confidence, support you through early labour, and ensure you and your birth partner never feel alone on your journey.

Testimonial

"I took Sylvia's prenatal yoga classes during my third trimester, and we also decided to ask her to be our doula. I enjoyed the yoga classes so much - they were supportive, relaxing and informative, and Sylvia really focuses on helping you make connections with the other local mums to be.

Sylvia was our 'virtual' doula as she wasn't physically present for the birth but she was on call for phone support 24/7 from 38 weeks. We also had several prenatal sessions with her in the final weeks of pregnancy. Sylvia is a warm, caring and extremely knowledgable doula. I learnt so much in our prenatal sessions and she helped me put together my birth plan. I had had previous negative experiences in medical settings which made me apprehensive about birth, and Sylvia really thought about my specific needs and what could best support me. I had a long early labour, and having her on the end of the phone was amazing - she helped me feel calm and suggested a few things to help get things moving while I was at home.

When the time came to go into hospital, a few unexpected things came up during active labour and it was invaluable for both of us to know we could speak to her at any time for support, motivation or a third opinion. Our labour midwives were brilliant but hearing a familiar, calm voice really made me feel safe when I needed extra support!

Our daughter was born safely in May, and Sylvia continued to check in and offer support and advice for my postpartum recovery. My husband and I were so pleased we had her on our journey. We'd absolutely recommend her if you want to work with a doula!"

Three meetings

aIMG_3885.jpg

Your birth preparation begins with a relaxed, in-person session in your home, where you’re most likely to spend to spend  the early stages of labour. Being in your own environment allows us to explore practical ways to create a calm, supportive birth space that feels right for you.

Together, we’ll discuss the physiology of birth, your options and preferences, and create a personalised birth plan. I’ll also show you movement techniques, breathing exercises, and positions to help you work with your body during labour.

As a qualified pregnancy yoga teacher, I believe movement and breath are powerful tools for labour. I’ll guide you through simple techniques that can encourage your baby into an optimal position for birth, help you stay comfortable, and build your confidence as you prepare to meet your baby.

Following our in-person session, we’ll have two further Zoom meetings to continue your birth preparation. These sessions are an opportunity to ask questions, review and refine your birth plan, discuss any changes that may have occurred during your pregnancy, and make sure you feel informed and prepared as your birth approaches.

These meetings are designed for both you and your birth partner, helping you work together as a team so you both feel confident, informed, and ready for the birth of your baby.

Continuous Support

From the moment you book, you’ll have ongoing access to me by phone or message. Whether you have a quick question, need reassurance, or simply want to talk through any worries or fears, I’m here for you.

Pregnancy can bring lots of questions, and no concern is too big or too small. I can help you understand your options, recommend trusted books and evidence-based resources, and signpost you to local professionals if additional support would be beneficial.

Having worked within the NHS for over 10 years, I also understand that appointments can sometimes leave you with unanswered questions or information that’s difficult to process. If you leave an appointment feeling confused or overwhelmed, we can talk it through together so that you feel informed, supported, and confident in the decisions you make for yourself and your baby.

Birth Support

aIMG_A4443.jpg

From 37 weeks of pregnancy, I will be on call for you 24 hours a day, ready to support you as labour begins.

During early labour, you can call me for guidance, reassurance, and encouragement. Whether you need help recognising the signs of labour, talking through what’s happening, or simply want a calm and reassuring voice on the other end of the phone, I’ll be there for you.

I’ll also be available to support your birth partner, helping them understand how best to support you with practical suggestions, reassurance, and encouragement. Having someone to guide you both through the early stages of labour can help you feel more confident and less alone.

While I do not provide medical advice or replace your maternity care team, I offer emotional support, evidence-based information, and continuous reassurance to help you navigate your birth with confidence.

First 40 days

The first few weeks after birth can be just as important as preparing for labour. During our birth preparation sessions, we can also spend time discussing how you would like your first 40 days to look, helping you feel more prepared and supported for life with your new baby.

Once your baby has arrived, I'm still here for you. Whether you need reassurance, someone to talk things through with, or support as you find your feet as a new parent, you can contact me by phone. I can offer guidance based on my experience, help you understand what's normal, and recommend local professionals such as lactation consultants if needed.

My aim is to help you feel supported, reassured and confident as you navigate those precious early weeks.

Postnatal Doula Support-in person

If you’d like a little extra support after your baby arrives, you can also add in-home postnatal doula visits.

The early weeks of parenthood can be beautiful, but they can also feel overwhelming and lonely. Sometimes what you need most is another pair of experienced hands, someone to listen without judgement, or simply another adult to talk to.

During my visits, I can care for your baby while you have a shower, eat a hot meal, or get some much-needed rest. I can offer reassurance around normal newborn behaviour, answer your questions, and provide emotional support as you adjust to life with your baby.

Many families choose to arrange postnatal visits for when their partner returns to work, knowing they have someone coming to support them during the day. Whether you need practical help, a listening ear, or simply the confidence that comes from having someone experienced by your side, I’m here to support you in whatever way you need.

Because every new mother deserves to be cared for too.
